From rooftop PV to grid-scale batteries, renewable energy is shaping how the state prepares for the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Arizona by the Numbers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Arizona\u2019s momentum in renewables is backed by strong solar growth and measurable clean energy outcomes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Over 8 GW of total installed solar capacity (ranking 5th nationally)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Solar powers the equivalent of more than 1.2 million Arizona homes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>20% of the state\u2019s electricity now comes from solar energy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Arizona ranks 7th in solar jobs, with over 8,400 workers statewide<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Sources:<br><a href=\"https:\/\/seia.org\/state-solar-policy\/arizona-solar\/\">SEIA Arizona State Spotlight \u2013 2025<\/a><br><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eia.gov\/state\/?sid=AZ\">U.S. Energy Information Administration<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conditions for Scalable, Profitable Clean Energy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Arizona\u2019s growth in solar and battery storage is due to a mix of environmental, economic, and policy drivers. With more than 325 days of sun per year, the state has some of the best solar production potential in the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Innovative utilities like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.srpnet.com\/\">Salt River Project (SRP)<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aps.com\">Arizona Public Service (APS)<\/a> are making major investments in renewable generation and grid-scale storage, laying the groundwork for long-term reliability and emissions reduction. As Arizona\u2019s population and business centers continue to grow, the need for clean, resilient, and cost-effective infrastructure is creating even greater demand for energy innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Powering Projects That Matter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>BEI Construction has supported Arizona\u2019s energy evolution with a growing portfolio of high-voltage and low-voltage projects that support solar generation, enhance grid stability, and modernize commercial infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the <strong>SRP Agua Fria Generating Station<\/strong> in Glendale, BEI played a key role in the construction of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DGBxEA8xMfo\/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&amp;igsh=Y2Zqa2hiaWYya3dt\">a 25\u202fMW \/ 100\u202fMWh battery energy storage system<\/a>\u2014one of Arizona\u2019s largest standalone BESS installations. Powered by 35 Tesla Megapacks and developed in partnership with Tesla Energy, Commonwealth Electric, and Blymyer Engineers, the system stores solar energy during periods of low demand and dispatches it during peak usage, helping stabilize the grid and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/beiconstruction.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Blog-posts-25.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/beiconstruction.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Blog-posts-25-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3461\" srcset=\"https:\/\/beiconstruction.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Blog-posts-25-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/beiconstruction.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Blog-posts-25-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/beiconstruction.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Blog-posts-25-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/beiconstruction.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Blog-posts-25-50x28.png 50w, https:\/\/beiconstruction.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Blog-posts-25-1600x900.png 1600w, https:\/\/beiconstruction.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Blog-posts-25-1536x864.png 1536w, https:\/\/beiconstruction.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Blog-posts-25.png 1960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong>Gilbert<\/strong>, BEI served as EPC contractor for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.superstitionenergystorage.com\/\">Superstition Energy Storage Project<\/a>, a 90\u202fMW \/ 360\u202fMWh lithium-ion battery system developed by Plus Power. The system, commissioned in June 2024, plays a critical role in balancing SRP\u2019s grid and integrating increasing levels of solar energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong>Phoenix<\/strong>, BEI completed several large-scale photovoltaic projects in partnership with Ameresco. At the Wells Fargo Home Equity campus, BEI installed a 1.13\u202fMW DC solar carport system using 2,826 modules. The scope included full electrical installation, trenching, boring, and integration of a data acquisition system with weather monitoring. Nearby, BEI also delivered a 739.4\u202fkW solar parking canopy with 1,854 modules and a 732.1\u202fkW system with 1,836 modules\u2014each contributing to the expansion of commercial-scale clean energy infrastructure across the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong>Tonopah<\/strong>, BEI supported the Harquahala 2 solar project by completing medium-voltage wire terminations on a single-axis tracker PV array.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In <strong>Glendale<\/strong>, BEI continues to support municipal clean energy initiatives. For the City of Glendale PV Construction Project, BEI was subcontracted by <strong>McKinstry<\/strong> to install 861.1\u202fkW DC \/ 720\u202fkW AC of solar across city-owned sites. The scope included solar module installation, trenching, cabling, grounding, lighting retrofits, and data systems. Additional city work includes a 627.84\u202fkW system at the <strong>Foothills Recreation and Aquatic Center<\/strong>, and a 233.26\u202fkW carport installation at the <strong>Glendale Regional Public Safety Training Center (GRPSTC), <\/strong>a facility that trains first responders across the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Low-Voltage<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to its work in renewable energy, BEI has strengthened Arizona\u2019s commercial infrastructure through its low-voltage division. With projects spanning <strong>Phoenix, Tucson, Mesa, Scottsdale, Glendale, Gilbert, Prescott, Oro Valley, Tonopah, and Mayer<\/strong>, BEI has installed structured cabling systems for data centers and commercial buildings, and deployed access control technologies that support secure, scalable operations for growing enterprises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Arizona\u2019s Next Phase of Energy Infrastructure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Arizona\u2019s natural solar advantage, paired with bold utility strategies and technological adoption, is driving a new era of energy resilience in the Southwest.
