At a press conference in April, Scott Murtishaw, Executive Director of CESA, joined with Governor Newsom and other clean energy leaders to announce and celebrate an important achievement: the installation of 10,000 MW of battery energy storage (BESS) in California. The state has been able to increase its battery storage capacity more than tenfold in just five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In applauding this accomplishment, Murtishaw noted, \u201cThe stationary energy storage industry began in California. We boast more installed energy storage capacity than any other state\u2014and the largest and second-largest energy storage facilities in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A major player in California BESS construction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

BEI Construction, a longstanding member of CESA<\/a>, has played a significant role in reaching this significant sustainable energy milestone. With end-to-end capabilities in house, BEI self-performs nearly every facet of BESS projects, ranging from several to hundreds of MW in size\u2014including engineering, EMS, electrical, civil, structural\/mechanical, testing and commissioning services. The company designs and builds both in front of the meter and behind the meter energy storage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
